Derian House Childrens Hospice

When we were children, it always seemed the best stories of childhood began “Once upon a time” and ended “they all lived happily ever after”. Sadly for the children of Derian House and their parents the reality is somewhat different, and all too often living happily ever after is not to be.For the parents of a child diagnosed as terminally ill, there can be no long term future – the planning of their child’s education, the milestones in their child’s life – for who knows what tomorrow, next week, next year may bring. For them there is sufficient challenge in coping with their child’s illness from one day to the next.

For these families Derian House Children’s Hospice is the lifeline which gives them the strength to go on, their means of survival through the darkest moments. It gives their children a home from home, the best possible medical care and as much fun and laughter as they can pack into their shortened lives.

Year on year the cost of providing the special care the children need increases, and the hospice has to raise more and more money in the same amount of time. And there is precious little help from central government for a children’s hospice such as Derian House. With less than 2% of our funding coming from official sources, this is where you can help by taking part in a sponsored skydive to raise money.

By pledging to do a sponsored parachute jump you can raise money for Derian House Childrens Hospice and have the experience of a lifetime. Jumping from a perfectly serviceable aeroplane takes a good deal of courage. Just ask your friends, family and work colleagues how much they are prepared to pay not to jump out of an aircraft, and put that money to the cause.
